Family duo Annari Breed and DuPreez Strauss are set to perform on stages across Belgium and Netherlands.

Alongside the Flemish-South African Cultural Foundation and the Marnixring association for the promotion of Dutch language and culture‚ the duo will in March hit the road to "re-ignite the historic passion for Afrikaans music" abroad.

“Music is a true means to connect communities and we hope this tour not only inspires Europeans‚” said Breed. “We look forward to sparking a fresh interest in Flemish speaking youth for Afrikaans music‚ and to facilitate the creation of new environments for young and old to engage with South Africa’s rich cultural heritage‚” she added.

The tour will be the first European extravaganza for the cousins‚ who jet off on March 1.

In addition to a musical experience‚ workshops for youth will be included to inform locals about the Afrikaans music culture.

“We believe in the power of cultural exchange to develop relationships and strengthen ties‚ and so we create platforms for Afrikaans and Dutch speakers to interact and communicate‚” says Flemish-South African Cultural Foundation Chairman‚ Frank Judo.

Annari Breed and DuPreez Strauss take off for their European tour on 1 March 2017.

“Every engagement creates new plans‚ new experiences and new encounters‚ like a strong friendship [and] for the Dutch speaking public‚ the experience of listening to Afrikaans creates a unique combination of cross-cultural connection and familiarity.”

Breed and Strauss will be in Belgium from March 4 – 19 and in the Netherlands from March 25 – 26.
