Businessman Kenny Kunene feels "blessed" after marrying his lady, Nonkululeko, in a fairy tale traditional ceremony in Kimberley over the weekend.

The couple started off the festivities by performing a traditional Umembeso ceremony, before making their way to a lavish wedding reception at a convention centre in Kimberley, where the lovebirds first met four years ago.

Umembeso is a Zulu ceremony after lobola negotiations where the groom's family present the bride’s family with gifts.

  • IN MEMES: Date My Family's 'Beyoncé' steals the showPoor bachelor General may have been looking for love on the latest episode of Date My Family, but it was his potential date Litha who stole the show.

Kenny told TshisaLIVE that the wedding reception, attended by 600 close friends and family of the couple, was a glitzy affair with entertainment by a number of big names, including RnB crooner Donald.

He said that Nonkululeko arrived in a cream dress that was so big she had to be transported in a SUV, before she was flown to the ceremony in a helicopter.

"It was a combination of traditional and western elements and was inspired by a pink dress worn by Rihanna at the 2015 Grammy awards. We surprised her with a helicopter at the airport. We stopped the helicopter at the entrance of the centre, a red carpet was rolled out and she walked into the centre. She was in tears. Everyone was in tears, tears of happiness," Kenny said.

Although he wouldn’t talk numbers, Kenny admitted that the reception cost "a serious arm and a leg". He said that the cost was worth it when he saw his bride stepping out of the helicopter.

"I am so blessed. I am humbled by the blessing bestowed on me. She was so beautiful and an angel sent to me from God, that is why I wanted her to land from the sky," Kenny said.

The couple will not be going on honeymoon as his wife is heavily pregnant and is not able to travel long distances.

Kenny said that the two families were focused on preparing  for a white wedding, which may take place around March or April next year.

"This was just a trailer. You won't believe what we will be doing for the white wedding. It will be out of this world" Kenny added.
