Listen up! Euphonik says an iTunes number 1 doesn't guarantee success
Your favourite rapper might think that getting to the top of the iTune's chart is a big deal but DJ Euphonik doesn't agree and claims to have the receipts to prove it.
Euphonik took to Twitter on Wednesday to spill the sauce on what he thought it took to make an impact in SA music, and seemed to shade artists who took pride in topping the iTune's charts in the process.
The DJ claimed that it did not take much to top the charts and said that the biggest gauge of popularity at the moment was not iTunes but music app Shazam.

He also claimed that MTN was the biggest distributors of music in the country at the moment.
We hope that all you aspiring artists are listening up because here's a few more lessons from Malume Euphonik:
iTunes number 1's don't mean anything
South Africa has 1st, 2nd and 3rd world citizens & not everyone has access to a credit card and smart phone so u can't service ppl the same

Ur not gonna get music to some1 in a rural area the same way you will to someone in Sandton so your avenues have to be broader than iTunes.

And let's stop using iTunes as a gauge for success because 40 ppl buying 1 song shoots it up to no. 1 spot. 40 people. Fourty People.

Euphonik believed that it was important to take the music to the people.

Burn your song onto CD And go give it to taxi drivers to play. 4/5million daily commuters in Jhb alone.

Go check how high school kids consume music. More music going up and down what's app groups than anywhere else. Infiltrate that network

Learn the business- and then learn to read
You want to be a musician? Teach yourself the business. Your talent is not enough. You will die poor if you don't understand the biz.

Read your royalty statements propertly. Some labels even charge you for the coffee you drank at the meeting.
— Euphonik™♛ (@euphonik) March 15, 2017
YOUR music Is YOUR passion and YOUR responsibility. Yes have a team but be responsible for YOUR craft and learn the income lines.

Focus on going international
If your focus musically is South Africa only. You better find something else to do because this tap runs dry quick.

And don't let today's success fool you into thinking you can't fail and this is easy. Consistency is what makes you last.
