Miss SA finalist Iman Mkwanazi has launched a scathing attack on SA-born actress Charlize Theron, insisting that the Oscar winner only claims to be South African when it is "convenient".

Iman made her feelings towards Charlize known in a series of tweets posted to her account on Wednesday.

In the tweets she said that Charlize's conduct upset her and that she felt Charlize only focused on South African causes "when there is publicity around it".

Some of her followers, including actress Pearl Thusi, suggested that Iman may have been unfair in her criticism and that Charlize was doing a lot away from the public eye.

But Imani stood firm in her stance and accused Charlize of only being South African when it suited her.

Miss SA organisers have distanced themselves from the tweets, telling TshisaLIVE that they could not comment on the finalist's comments as the competition was now over.
