From famous friends to massive international collabs, is there a bigger South African musician than Black Coffee at the moment?

The DJ's star has been on the rise for several years already but reached a whole new level over the last few months.

In the wake of his massive show at the prestigious Coachella music festival last year, Black Coffee has really strengthened his international brand, scoring a number of big deals in the process.

Meanwhile, we're just here in SA watching in complete awe!

Here's just some of the reasons why Black Coffee is pretty much slaying life and music at the moment.

He goes overseas more than you go to the shops

There was a time when a Black Coffee world tour was a massive deal. Now the DJ regularly flies in and out of the country to perform in countries across the globe  like he is popping past the shops for bread and milk. His passport must be lit!

He has a residency in... wait for it...Ibiza!

Talking about globe trotting, Black Coffee will take up a residency in one of the party capitals of the world, Ibiza, from June until September. With a residency in the centre of Ibiza, Black Coffee will not only showcase his talent to the world but will also no doubt push his brand to new heights. All of that while opening doors for other South African acts.

He has THE most famous friends

The guy already counts Swizz Beatz, Paris Hilton and Diddy as fans and friends. The musician even played at Diddy's house party recently. Levels!

He has some pretty big international collabs.

Black Coffee worked on a project with Alicia Keys last year and recently finished a project with rapper Drake. If that isn't impressive enough he apparently also has collabs with Usher and John Legend in the pipeline.

Most importantly: he isn't afraid to share his success

Whether it's making a fan's dream come true by inviting them in studio or taking his friends to the A-list party at Diddy's house, Black Coffee is all about opening doors for other artists.

His influence is felt in the success of several big acts in the country, including DJ Shimza and Culoe De Song. And you get the feeling that he's just getting started.
