Zakes Bantwini has been outspoken about celebrities in South Africa doing outrageous things on social media just for the attention.

Zakes, who is a UNICEF ambassador, acknowledges that many people who he is friends with or has worked with, will post about "booze on Instagram" but never do "anything good."

He said that the best way to set an example is to show people what he does.

"I just need to show you. I just need to be a dad. I just talk about these things. You are probably going to follow me. I can show you better than I tell you. I've taken timeout to be here and do this with UNICEF. It's a good cause and a topic we need to address."

UNICEF is launching a Father's Day campaign which aims to highlight the importance of the first year's of a child's life.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE Zakes said many men believe they can be a father when it suits them.

"They think they can dip in and out. They aren't present."

Zakes and his wife Nandi Madida welcomed their first baby together in November 2016.

He said his biggest lesson has been learning how critical the early years of development are.
