Yet another science-based drama series has landed on our small screens.

Eleventh Hour is an American series based on the 2006 British series of the same name.

The series follows the enigmatic Dr Jacob Hood, played Rufus Sewell, as he investigates scientific crises and oddities — everything from cloning to cryogenics.

He is a brilliant biophysicist and special science adviser to the FBI.

His mission is to keep scientific advances out of the hands of those with nefarious intentions

Hood is called in as the last line of defence for the FBI for which he resolutely pursues, with the absolute jurisdiction granted by his employer, those seeking to misuse scientific discoveries and breakthroughs.

The series was originally screened on CBS and is a joint venture between Jerry Bruckheimer Television, Granada Television International and Warner Bros Television.

Bruckheimer produced the Pirates of the Caribbean films and the CSI series.

The series also stars Rachel Young as Hood’s handler, whose job it is to protect his life. Young describes her job as “protecting Hood from himself” — something, she says, he makes very difficult.
