She also denied being jealous of Els's friendship with singer Patricia Lewis.

Jenny Liebenberg told the High Court in Pretoria she and Lewis were "great friends".

She testified that she had never been jealous of Lewis and Els, who were singing partners at one stage.

Liebenberg was testifying in the trial of Els, who has pleaded not guilty to three sex-related charges.

It is alleged that Els, who now lives in New Zealand, molested Klay between the ages of 11 and 16, when he was a child star.

Liebenberg on Wednesday told the court Lewis once told her that Els claimed she was madly in love with him.

She admitted to buying Els an expensive gold chain after meeting him and giving him cards in which she proclaimed that she was "crazy" about him, ending the cards with "lots of love".

This was, however, because she thought he was "a very nice man" when she first met him, Liebenberg said.

Referring to the gold chain she wore around her neck for her court appearance, Liebenberg said she had been upset when Els rejected the gift she and Klay gave him for Christmas, but that they "never made a big thing out of it".

Els gave the chain to Klay, but she reclaimed it, saying her son could get it when she died one day.

Liebenberg, whose four children all have different fathers, conceded that she had lived at 24 addresses in the first 22 years of her son's life.

Klay spent many Christmases and holidays with Els and his family.

Psychologist Elsabe Swanepoel testified that Klay was a "neglected" child who was "thrown to the wolves".

She said Klay's singing career and his leaving school at a young age had placed him in the isolated, artificial world of entertainment and not in the real world.

Klay was "not an intellectual giant" and could be described as "childish", Swanepoel said.

Although Klay displayed typical symptoms of adult survivors of abuse, Swanepoel conceded that this was not absolute proof that he had been sexually abused as a child.

Els has described Klay's allegations as a "fantasy".

The trial continues on Thursday.

She hasn't exactly been a role model parent herself, flitting from one mans' bed to another and 24 homes in 22 years!!! Sounds like lots of ducking and diving and I bet she has a bad credit history. She saw Jurie as a cash cow and sacrificed Robbie to him for the money.
