Basement Jaxx in SA for two nights
House and electronica emperors, Basement Jaxx, synonimous with sold-out gigs worldwide, will this weekend rock South Africa- for two nights only.
The duo of Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton, who've been rocking club parties for 16 years will play in Cape Town and Johannesburg this Friday and Saturday respectively.
The pair from London, who have sold over 3 million albums, last played in South Arica six years ago to commemorate the country's ten years of democracy.
And organisers NuWave are promising an "awesome and unique" party. They organised the sold out tour of trance DJ Paul Oakenfold, and they expect another sell out tour for the Grammy award and BRIT award-winning duo.
Managing Director at NuWave Revel Ravenhill told The Times this past weekend: "This works towards our goal of providing the biggest names in the world of dance music to a local audience as we often receive mails from the public requesting certain artists they want to see. Basement Jaxx are great perforers and really love what they do. They are in huge demand the world over."
Durbanites may rightly feel left out, but NuWave said that due to scheduling, only two shows could be secured, as the Jaxx head straight back to London for Bestival and then Ibiza and California in the next two weeks. However "Durban, Port Elizabeth and even Bloemfontein would definitely be considered" for future tours.
Locals Roger Goode, Euphonik, Milkshake, Poppy, Grant & Anele, and Flash Republic will also provide entertainment on both nights.
Tickets for the two shows can be bought either at Computicket or at the door, and range from R238 to R1 404 for V-VIP seats at The Lookout in Cape Town on the V&A Waterfront and Sky Raiders at Rand Airport in Johannesburg.
The Times cannot reveal the names of other possible artists that NuWave are trying to bring to our shores, but one of those is a DJ has had numerous smash hits with artists such as Akon.
