Businessman Theunis Crous says he wants to live his life without the court drama, the limelight and the media attention that has followed him since he became involved with socialite Khanyi Mbau.

He said that this morning he would drop all the charges he laid against her.

"I've realised I'm a big man. I can defend myself and do not need the courts to protect me," he said yesterday.

"I do not want to go to court anymore. I am a businessman. I don't want to be part of this media circus."

Crous, 51, who is married to Port Elizabeth model Primrose, with whom he has two small children, began an affair last year with Mbau, who is 28 years younger.

He showered Mbau with expensive gifts, including a Lamborghini.

But, after their relationship soured, the two turned to the Randburg Domestic Violence Court and sought protection orders against each other, claiming abuse.

After Mbau allegedly entered his flat with a group of men, in defiance of a protection order, Crous applied on Friday for a warrant for her arrest. But now he has changed his mind.

"I am going to withdraw all charges against her because, at the end of the day, we both look like low-class scumballs," he said.
