Uggie cements his paw prints in Hollywood

Bang Showbiz | 26 June, 2012 15:29

Uggie has become the first dog to leave his prints outside Hollywood's Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

The 10-year-old Jack Russell – who retired from showbiz following his star-making performance in Oscar-winning movie The Artist - took part in the ceremony in Los Angeles alongside his trainer Omar von Muller.

Omar said: "Everybody thinks I am great trainer. I don't think so. I think he is just a great dog.

"Pretty much the main message that Uggie would like to send to everyone out there is to please go out and adopt.

"He's adopted. If he made it, you guys can adopt a dog, and even if he doesn't make it on the big screen he'll be the star in your house."

Uggie was dressed up for the occasion in a smart black bow tie, left his prints beside the handprints of stars including Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe.

The pooch, who appeared as Jean Dujardin's pet in the critically acclaimed silent film, has previously starred alongside Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon in Water For Elephants.

He won the Palm Dog Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, and was awarded with a Golden Collar Award earlier this year.
