Late singer Amy Winehouse's boyfriend Reg Traviss has been charged with two counts of rape.
The director – who was dating the Rehab singer at the time of her death in July 2011 – has been formally charged under his full name Reginald, regarding an allegation of rape which took place between December 29, 2011 and January 1, 2012.
Rebecca Mundy, a lawyer for the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "I have authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Reginald Traviss with two counts of rape.
"The decision was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."
Traviss will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on July 17.
The sexual assault was first reported on January 18 and the 35-year-old filmmaker was arrested on April 5 by the Metropolitan Police.
After his April arrest, friends said Traviss was shocked and had vowed to fight the allegations.
A friend said: "He does know the woman who made the report to police and he completely denies the allegation.
"He wants to do everything in his power to fight this."
