FEELING IRIE: Lady Gaga raves about the effects of dagga

Lady Gaga cemented her unofficial title as Queen of Twitter by becoming the first ever person to accumulate over 30 million followers on the site over October 3 and 4.

According to social media monitoring site Starcount.com, the eccentric pop star gains around 30 000 new followers every day on her official account @ladygaga.

Analysts from Starcount also cite the pop star's frequent interaction with fans on the microblogging site, as well as her fame, as the reason for her phenomenal popularity on Twitter.

Gaga – whose real name is Stefani Germanotta – interacts with her fans, called her ‘Little Monsters’ on a regular basis, and especially uses it as a social platform, advertising tours and leveraging her charity, the Born This Way Foundation.

Close behind Lady Gaga, in terms of Twitter popularity, is teenage pop star Justin Bieber, who has over 28 million followers.
