South African viewers will now have the opportunity to catch the much talked about exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey and Lance Armstrong on TLC.

Armstrong will address the alleged doping scandal, years of accusations of cheating, and charges of lying about the use of performance-enhancing drugs throughout his storied cycling career.

The special 90-minute episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter will air locally in South Africa on Friday, January 18 at 19:30 on TLC.

Oprah’s Next Chapter is the primetime series featuring Oprah Winfrey as she steps outside of the studio for riveting, enlightening and in-depth conversations with newsmakers, celebrities, thought leaders and real-life families.

Repeats of the episode will take place on Saturday January 19 at 12:50, Sunday, January 20 at 17:50 and Monday, January 21 at 11:35.

In his first no-holds-barred interview, Winfrey speaks with Armstrong at his home in Austin, Texas in the only interview since the seven-time Tour de France winner was stripped of his titles and dropped from millions of dollars in endorsement deals after the US Anti-Doping Agency released an extensive report accusing the renowned cyclist of doping throughout his career.

Armstrong was given a lifetime ban on competing professionally. Late last year, he resigned as chairman of the foundation he created, Livestrong, which has raised hundreds of millions of dollars in the fight against cancer.

Oprah’s Next Chapter is airing to audiences across portions of Discovery Networks International (DNI) footprint around the globe, including South Africa.

“Lance Armstrong’s controversial story captured the attention of the world last year and Discovery Networks is providing a platform to air his story for the first time on TLC for our South African viewers,” says Lee Hobbs, Channel Director, Emerging Business, Discovery Networks CEEMEA.

Oprah’s Next Chapter has proved a real hit with South African TLC viewers, and Oprah’s most recent interview with multi-platinum superstar Justin Bieber was well received by Beliebers and non-Beliebers alike.

Lance Armstrong’s interview is sure to spark even more debate, and we look forward to bringing our viewers more of the same quality content in the near future.”
