Liam Gallagher says loves 'Gangnam Style', hits out at brother again

Beady Eye frontman Liam Gallagher says he loves Psy's ‘Gangnam Style’, says it’s an "absolute classic"

Speaking to Japanese fans in a web chat, he revealed a soft spot for the K-pop hit. Asked what he thought of the South Korean Internet sensation, he replied: "I think it's an absolute classic... I love it.

“My kid dances to it every morning and it makes me chuckle and spit out my Corn Flakes. I can't wait to hear his new tune," says NME.

Gallagher, who is currently in the studio working on his second album with new band Beady Eye, says the record is good enough to stand up to Oasis' best work.

He claims to have taken more risks on the band's second album, and also claims that the album should have been released by Oasis during their heyday instead of their critically divisive release, Be Here Now.

"This is the record Oasis should have made after (What's The Story) Morning Glory?" according to Gigwise.

Gallagher says in a new interview with NME, although unlike brother Noel, declines to criticise Be Here Now, saying that he is still proud of the record.

"I'm not saying it's better than Be Here Now or it's going to be this or that - I love Be Here Now, I won't have a bad word said about it but when you're selling 20 million records, you've got people there going, 'Oh let's just chuck out that formula again'.

"So I'm a bit disappointed we didn't ever do it. But this fucking record: we've booted the door off the hinges and steamed right in there, into this other world."

He also speaks of his disappointment at poor sales of Beady Eye's debut album, adding: "Maybe it was too quick after Oasis... But you can blame it on this, you can blame it on that... at the end of the day people just didn't fucking buy it, they didn't get it, it didn't connect, so back to the drawing board."

Beady Eye's manager has previously stated that he believes the new Beady Eye album is some of Gallagher’s best ever work.

It's probably the most exciting record I've worked on for as long as I can remember," said Scott Rodger of Quest Management.

"Everyone thinks they know exactly what record Beady Eye are going to deliver, but they've completely turned it on its head."

The band is working with Dave Sitek of TV On The Radio, and have promised the new record will be more risky than their debut.

Gallagher recently hit out at his brother Noel and the success of his solo career with The High Flying Birds. "Was I pleased for him? What, for splitting up my fucking band? I'm not pleased for him, no! I hope he's fucking happy but he doesn't look it."

When asked again about the continuous rumours around an Oasis reunion, he replied: "Fuck Oasis as far as I’m concerned and fuck Noel Gallagher. The thought of going onstage with that fucking idiot and hanging out with his daft mates, the pretend drug addicts and all his snobs from Sloane Street. Fuck that, not interested, mate. We’re Beady Eye all the fucking way… I’ve got a new record, I’m buzzing off it."

Meanwhile, NME says an art dealer in Hampstead has revealed that the increasingly-cultured Gallagher is one of her best customers. Gabrielle du Plooy, 37, who runs Zebra Gallery told the Ham & High "Liam Gallagher is one of the most loyal clients – he’s bought a lot of rock and roll photography as well as Sir Peter Blake’s sleeve for the Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album."
