Cape Town DJ Kyle Brinkmann, known as Das Kapital, has made it his mission to win a nationwide boob job giveaway.

He plans to donate the R30,000 cash prize to a breast cancer survivor or transgendered woman in need, in a competition being run by South African nightclub chain, Tiger Tiger.

Brinkmann criticised the nightclub’s marketing campaign which offers a chance to win money for breast augmentation surgery, for not “celebrating the uniqueness of women.”

Previously, the Tiger Tiger lucky draw was open to women only, but this year men can enter. Tiger Tiger has invited boyfriends, husbands and fathers to enter on behalf of women.

Brinkman said that this outraged him because it “removes the decisions women make of their own bodies”.

Brinkmann announced his intention to enter the giveaway competition on Facebook this week and prompted a frenzy on Tiger Tiger’s Facebook events page.

Men and women have used the platform to show support for Brinkmann’s campaign to ensure the money goes to a worthy cause and not to the promotion of  a poor body image among South African women.

Tiger Tiger’s Durban Marketing Manager, Ashleigh Bothma, says the competition had the public outraged last year, but that this year people are excited. “Now I think they understand – it’s not about big boobs, it’s a personal choice,” she said.

Bothma also said that Tiger Tiger supports and encourages anyone who is entering the giveaway with the intention of giving the prize money away to someone in need of reconstructive surgery.

The annual giveaway in honour of National Cleavage Day kicks off officially on Thursday, March 13, and invites women to enter and win a breast augmentation procedure of their choice.

Brinkmann is also launching the Kyle Brinkmann South African National Cleavage Day Breast Cancer Survivor Project in partnership with the Pink Drive Project online today.

The initiative will raise money in aid of reconstructive surgery for breast cancer survivors.

Brinkmann said the project raised over R25, 000 in one day and that, “It’s the cause closest,” to his heart.

“The project is being launched in reaction to Tiger Tiger’s giveaway. I’m asking them to do the right thing,” Brinkmann said.

The draw will take place on March 29, where the competition finalists will have to motivate why they are deserving of the prize.
