George Clooney to wed in September

Hollywood star George Clooney is to wed his fiancee, top human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin in Italy in September, reports said Thursday, after their wedding banns were displayed at a church in London.

The banns, which were posted two weeks ago at Chelsea Town Hall, are a legal requirement for Britons who want to marry and have to be displayed in public for 16 days before the couple weds. Lebanese-born Alamuddin has made Britain her home.

The document states that the wedding will take place in Italy, gives Clooney's full name as George Timothy and describes him as an "actor and director". It also notes "previous marriage dissolved". The 53-year-old split from his first wife Talia Balsam in 1993.

Alamuddin, 36, is described as a barrister, single, and her full name is given as Amal Ramzi.

Some reports gave the date of the wedding as September 20, though nothing has been confirmed. Media also disagree as to where the wedding will take place, with some suggesting Venice, and others saying it will be held at Clooney's mansion on Lake Como.

Meanwhile, Clooney's wedding will feature in America's Vogue magazine. The Monuments Men actor and human rights lawyer Alamuddin are set to tie the knot in Italy next month, and among the guests at the celebrations will be the publication's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

A source said: ''She wouldn't go there and not cover it.'' Alamuddin is expected to wear a gown created by Oscar de la Renta and, because the designer is a close friend of Wintour, the dress will feature heavily in the wedding coverage.

The insider told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: ''She and Oscar are such good friends and [she'd] want to give him some attention.''

Meanwhile, the groom will reportedly wear Giorgio Armani and a team of designers recently flew to his Italian estate for fittings with the 53-year-old actor and the male members of the wedding party. A source said: ''They're locked and loaded.'' Clooney and Alamuddin, 36, are planning a small and intimate wedding but will also celebrate with a number of parties before and after the nuptials.

A source added: ''They're going to have top security, but include a really small group. Very intimate, and mostly family.'' The couple got engaged in April after seven months of dating.
