Miley Cyrus claims she's ''retired'' from the sexy dance move twerking after watching Nicki Minaj perform the bottom-shaking move at the MTV VMAs last night.

The 21-year-old singer - who hit the headlines last year after she provocatively danced up against Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) - has decided to give up the bottom shaking dance move.

Speaking to MTV, she said: ''I've retired [from twerking], yeah. I'm making some music right now with The Flaming Lips. It's different. It's a little psychedelic.''

The Wrecking Ball hitmaker's decision to quit the raunchy move comes after she watched Nicki Minaj twerk during her performance of Anaconda at the VMAs in Inglewood, California.

When speaking about how Anaconda had beaten Wrecking Ball for the most views in 24 hours, Cyrus said: ''With that ass ... I ain't got that ass. I can bring that body, I can bring that wrecking ball, but I can't bring that ass. Not that Anaconda.''

Meanwhile, Cyrus was awarded the Video of the Year prize for the catchy hit at last night's ceremony and she pulled on people's heartstrings when she let her homeless friend Jesse collect the gong on her behalf.

Speaking to E! News, she said: ''Last year [at the VMAs] was so stressful that this year, I'm so happy.'' Miley, who works with My Friends Place to help homeless youth, later gorged on a meaty feast from popular fast food chain In-N-Out Burger with Jesse.
