The KwaZulu-Natal Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) is looking for a former Generations soapie star and lead actor in the Isibaya TV series, after he was allegedly clocked travelling at 153km/h north of Durban on Wednesday.

RTI spokeswoman Zinhle Mngomezulu said Siyabonga Twala was stopped by officers from the RTI's Groutville office when he was allegedly speeding in a borrowed car on the N2 near Ballito.

Mngomezulu said the officer took down Twala's details and handed his licence back to him, but Twala failed to wait to receive his R1500 fine for speeding.

"The officer managed to take down his details but then he ran away. He can be arrested because he failed to comply with the lawful instructions of an officer," she said.

The incident happened shortly before 10am on Wednesday.

She said the officer had taken details of the licence and was inserting other details on the form, such as the date by when Twala needed to pay the fine, when Twala simply got in the car and drove off.

Mngomezulu said the officer, identified as Senior Traffic Inspector SP Dlamini, was told by Twala that "he was rushing for a meeting with our HOD [head of department]. I asked my HOD. He [the HOD] had no idea what I was talking about."

She said that when the RTI tracked the vehicle's owner, the owner said he "had an agreement" that Twala could use the vehicle.
