SABC making DJ Sbu pay up for every time he promoted his energy drink: report

The SABC has apparently conducted an audit on DJ Sbu's radio show and is set to request the entrepreneur to cough up thousands in mispent airtime.

DJ Sbu Leope was suspended by Metro FM for punting his energy drink at the Metro FM awards.

According to Sunday World, the SABC has decided to investigate Leope to ascertain how much of their airtime he has used promoting his energy drink. Leope hosts a radio show on Saturdays on Metro FM.

"They pulled out all the tapes of the shows he had done for review to tally every mention he'd made of his energy drink. They consider it to be advertising, it must be paid for," a source told the newspaper.

Leope said he would comply with processes and respected the SABC's decision. He said other DJs on the station should be subjected to the same scrutiny he was.
