Afro-soul songstress Zahara has been beset by rumours of alcoholism, a dwindling career and a break-up.

Zahara, who shot to fame after her hit track Loliwe set the music charts ablaze and earned her a slew of awards, has had her personal life heavily scrutinised.

She was the subject of a Sunday tabloid which claimed her partner, a radio DJ, decided to leave her because she drank too much.

The paper also claimed she was struggling to reinvent her career after her second album was deemed a flop. Zahara took to Facebook to clear the air about the rumours.

She admitted that she did drink too much at one point - specifically after her brother died last year but has since cleaned up her act and is getting over the depression of losing a loved one.

"Don't believe everything you read in these newspapers. Me and Amaza are fine, more than fine - we went together to radio awards.

"My 3rd album is on its way, so I'm always in studio..I'll never do something to disappoint you, my Army. Love you always," she concluded.
