Kaizer Chiefs star goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has hit back at media reports that suggested his ex-girlfriend Minnie Dlamini was instructed to disassociate herself with him because he was regarded as a “bad boy.”

Dlamini was allegedly advised to stay away from the Bafana Bafana keeper or risk future deals with her sponsors Nedbank, Sunday World reported, quoting officials who wished not to be named.

The soccer star obviously did not take these accusations lightly and took to Instagram to tell his side of the story.

"This is my humble request once again, these journalist think they can write whatever they think is good for them to sell a paper but take bread out of our mouths, they write lies about us week in week out cause I was crowned a #champion yesterday so they thought they were going to take my shine away just like that.they are wrong cause some of their writers told me that if they don't have anything to write about they just cook up something around ItuKhune cause he sells their papers.our surnames are being misused in wrong reasons,do these people ever consider or think of our family members or people that looks up to us "Nope".this has to STOP cause we are Role Models to many but yet we have journalist who destroys our careers just like that.how are we supposed to keep our people Positive while other people keep them Negative.we trying really hard.so these people are out there to destroy some of us.don't let them fool y'all with their lies," wrote Khune.

According to the paper, Dlamini has also rubbished the claims. "There's no way in which a big corporation such as Nedbank can involve themselves in personal issues. There's no truth in that," she explained.

Nedbank has also said that it would not comment or get involved in the private matters of a service provider.
