South Africa's media darling has indeed lost out on an amazing opportunity to take her brand to the rest of Africa by presenting on Moments With Mo, a Nigerian based syndicated talk show.

“The first two shows were planned. I knew about those. But then we got an offer from EbonyLife TV in Nigeria to do another talk show.

“My manager Zoe [Msutwana] is working out the details, logistics and money, but it’s as good as done," Bonang Matheba told City Press earlier this year.

Had Matheba indeed clinched the deal, she would have cemented her brand across Africa, effectively becoming a media juggernaut.

However, Matheba accepting a hosting gig with SABC 3's Afternoon Express may have seen her bid adieu to the Ebony TV Moments With Mo deal. According to Sunday World, the SABC prohibited her from joining the show as it would have presented a conflict of interest.

"We wanted to work with her but unfortunately she has a talk show on SABC3 whose format is the same as ours, so we couldn't proceed. We did not have a problem to work with her but we couldn't because it was a conflict of interest," said Ebony Life TV head of entertainment Sandra Amadio.

Matheba has a lot on her plate - she juggles a radio show on Metro FM in the morning, Afternoon Express in the afternoon, being the face of Revlon and presenting Top Billing.

Lerato Kganyago and Pearl Thusi have been unveiled as the local media personalities who have joined Moments with Mo instead. It is said they will be earning in US dollars, adding to the several pay cheques they garner from presenting, modelling and DJing. Kganyago unveiled the new promo on her social media platforms today.

Moments with Mo is currently one of the top syndicated talk shows, broadcast in eight African countries.
