Kaizer Chiefs are in the process of suing controversial businessman DJ Sbu after he used their name and that of three of the club's senior players to promote his drink, according to a report.

This was revealed by Sunday World, which added that DJ Sbu, real name Sibusiso Leope, allegedly hoodwinked Chiefs defenders Morgan Gould, Tsepo Masilela and Siboniso Gaxa into posing for a picture with him wearing club merchandise and Mofaya promotional T-shirts.

Masilela was seen holding a pack of MoFaya drinks in the picture, which circulated on various social media networks to help promote the product,

According to the paper, "this stunt angered the reigning champions' no-nonsense marketing manager Jessica Motaung, who hauled the trio to a disciplinary hearing and handed them a hefty fine."

Chiefs communications manager Vina Maphosa refused to give more details, only saying the "the matter is at the stage where we are unable to comment."

"Speak to DJ Sbu. When we are ready we will go public about it."
