Since being unveiled as the cover star of True Love's December issue, Khanyi Mbau has had to fend off criticism about her looks - she opens up about exactly what plastic surgery she has had done.

Fans are unimpressed with Mbau's cover and went on social media to voice their concerns.

In response to a Twitter user who opined that she looked more masculine than feminine, Mbau cheekily responded: "Strong women tend to look like men."

Speaking to True Love, Mbau does not deny that she has undergone several cosmetic procedures. The mother of one and self-proclaimed reformed gold digger says she had a non invasive laser lipo procedure in her early twenties. The procedure was to prevent cellulite and saddle bags from forming.

"I'm in the public eye so I like to be easy on the eye - I have my yearly chemical peel, and I use fillers in my face. My nose is my own but I use fillers to give it a better profile," says Mbau of her other procedures.

Fillers are an injectable tissue which give the face or an organ a smoother, wrinkle free appearance. Mbau has not commented on if she has had any other major surgery done recently but revealed in 2011 she had gotten breast implants, had her eyebrows lifted, pushed her gums back and whitened her teeth and had excess skin around her eyelids removed.

At the time, the dental procedure set Mbau back R35,000.

“I had my teeth filed and put in fillers to close the gaps. I also had a root canal and had my gums pushed back, which was more painful than you can ever imagine. It took me three sessions – and at one point my mouth was open for six hours.

“I’m now bleaching them in four sessions to get that bright, white smile you see on people like Beyoncé,” she added.

She told City Press: “I’m in the business of selling beauty. I also believe that people have the right to do whatever they want to look beautiful. “All I want is to maintain my looks. They are what people know me for.”
