Controversial businessman DJ Sbu, real name Sbusiso Leope, has revealed that efforts to make his energy drink, MoFaya, a success has hit him hard in the pocket and left him swimming “deep in debt.”

The popular radio and TV personality has been on a massive promotional crusade, which apparently came at huge costs, to put his energy drink not only on a national but global map.

The Tembisa-born businessman confessed through a Instagram post from a beach in Mozambique that the campaign to promote his energy drink made him “more broke than I have been in a long time."

"I'm deep in debt. Every last cent. Drop of blood sweat tears. Emotions. Energy. Everything has been invested in #MyStartUp. Been fired. Laughed at. Called crazy & more. Are you willing to risk it all for your dream?," DJ Sbu posted.

"This is not a holiday selfie. We at work. I'm not poor. But I'm broke.
