Top five SA celebrity scandals of 2015

We revisit five of the biggest celebrity scandals that hit the headlines and got us talking in 2015.

1. Pulane and the punani drama

Earlier this year while dating soccer player, Thandani Ntshumayelo of Orlando Pirates, Pulane  Lenkoe's nude pictures were posted on Twitter. The image was then circulated and shared thousands of times on social networking sites. At the time her leaked nude images went viral online, Lenkoe told The Times: "I don't want to deal with this. I just want it to go away. I wish I could just wake up and somebody tells me it's just a dream.

"I don't want all of this attention. Good Friday [is approaching], my goodness. I'm going to church. I don't want people looking at me like I'm some whore."

Lenkoe has now moved on from the drama that came with the leak and looks forward to a future with soccer player Katlego Mphela who bought her a fancy promise ring.

She has also embraced her sexy image and appeared on rapper L-Tido's Dladla Ka Yona video.

2.Rapper  AKA dumps baby mama, Zinhle and hooks up with Bonang Matheba

One of the most shocking love triangles of the year was when DJ Zinhle revealed on her blog that the father of her child, rapper AKA had been dating Bonang Matheba for five months behind her back. Zinhle had accepted AKA's decision to leave her for Matheba and was focused on raising their daughter together. Matheba and AKA at first denied they were an item but have now become more open with their relationship.

3. Proverb divorces wife after cheating scandal

The 'Idols' presenter and his wife of ten years have decided to go their separate ways after a cheating scandal which recently rocked their relationship. Proverb's wife, Onalerona Tekisho announced on her personal Facebook account that the divorce order had been granted and she and Proverb were parting amicably. Onalerona has reverted back to her maiden name of Moreo. The couple made headlines when it was revealed in September that Onalerona had an affair with a businessman, Edwin Sodi.

The pair are said to have met at a car wash two years ago and had travelled to Dubai together under the guise of a business trip. At first Proverb refuted the claims but later backtracked and admitted his wife had cheated on him.

4. Sordid details of Malusi Gigaba's affair hit the headlines

New York based stylist, Buhle Mkhize wrote an open letter lifting the lid on the  surreptitious affair she allegedly had with Malusi Gigaba.

Their dalliance started in July 2014, lasting an entire year. Mkhize who is married says she met Gigaba on Instagram and realised they shared the same sense of humour.

"By the end of July he’d started sending me private messages that were very basic at first but quickly graduated to flirting. The messages were flattering but uncomfortable, I am married and had had a relationship with a public figure in the past and hated what comes with it so this wasn’t the route I wanted to take even if I was single," Mkhize said.

The exchange of private messages on Instagram quickly escalated to phone calls and text messages. Eventually, Gigaba arranged for Mkhize to visit him in Cape Town where they spent four days together. Mkhize only returned to her home in New York two weeks later.

Gigaba has since called Mkhize an attention seeker whom he made the mistake of befriending.

Cassper Nyovest slams ex-girlfriend Amanda du Pont at Metro FM Awards

What had people talking was not just rapper Cassper Nyovest's multiple wins at the Metro FM awards - it was his closing performance which he used to blast Skeem Saam actress Amanda du-Pont. During his energetic performance of Phumakim, Cassper, real name Refiloe Phoolo changed the lyrics of his hit to: 'Even Amanda du-Pont wasn't tailored for me, now I really f*ck with women as famous as me.'

His original lyric was 'She ain't no I'm Amanda du-Pont, She ain't tailored for me, Cause I only f*ck with women that's as famous as me.'

Shortly after uttering the changed lyrics, social media was abuzz with what it meant for the one time golden couple. They went public with their romance at the Channel O Awards last year, shared a kiss on stage and were seen at several events hand in hand. They even took their union to Instagram, posting couple selfies on the regular. But it was not meant to be as Cassper was soon spotted wooing Boity Thulo with the two making their relationship public knowledge recently. Du-Pont has also moved on and snagged herself a yummy boo.

The track that started it all, Cassper calls out Amanda in his hit jam and this eventually lead to their romance.
