'Max Payne 3' hits 3 million mark
Game publisher Take Two sent 3 million copies of Max Payne 3 to retailers for the game's May 15 launch week, the company revealed.
Ahead of important sequels, the publisher reminded its corporate investors of its achievements so far.
Based on Take Two's figures, NBA 2K12 would appear to be its next strongest performer, shipping over 5 million units since October 2011.
Borderlands, released in 2010 and with Borderlands 2 this October, has managed to ship nearly 6 million copies over its lifetime.
The 2007 and 2010 BioShock games that foreshadow Feburary 2013's delayed BioShock Infinite accrued 9.5 million shipped units between them.
Max Payne 3 itself launched on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 during the same week as Blizzard's long-awaited Mac and PC epic Diablo III. Early charts from the UK, the Netherlands and Sweden indicate that the two titles immediately dominated sales charts.
