Pro-wrestler and reigning WWE champion CM Punk is set to become the cover athlete for the WWE '13 wrestling game due out fall 2012.

The announcement was made as part of the Monday Night Raw show broadcast on May 28.

Wrestling personality John Laurinaitis was on hand, quipping that WWE '13 will be "bigger than Pac-Man," a double-edged reference to boxer Manny Pacquiano.

The Attitude Era, which is the 1997-2001 period in WWE history, will also feature.

And the presence of a modernized Attitude logo on the cover of WWE '13 lends further credence to a leaked trailer that focused on footage of bouts from the late nineties.

WWE '13 is being developed by Yuke's, a Japanese studio which has recent UFC Undisputed series entries and eighteen year's worth of wrestling games under its belt.

Publisher THQ holds the rights for both WWE and UFC games, while Electronic Arts has so far kept quiet on the development of EA Sports MMA 2 and the follow-up to boxing title Fight Night Champion.
