The San Francisco Green Film Festival will run March 1 to 7 and feature the world premiere of ‘Who bombed Judi Bari?’

The organisers behind the second annual San Francisco Green Film Festival announced the line-up and highlights of this year's event.

Now in its second year, the San Francisco Green Film Festival, held March 1 to 7, showcases a number of environmentally conscious films that promote and explore sustainability and ‘green' issues.

Last year the event featured legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog's documentary Happy People and hosted several world premieres from filmmakers around the world.

Highlights of this year's event include San Francisco premieres of The Island President by Jon Shenk which follows resident Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives as he investigates global warming; You've Been Trumped by Anthony Baxter which follows a group of Scottish homeowners as they try to prevent Donald Trump from building a golf course on the surrounding wilderness; and the world premiere of Who Bombed Judi Bari which tells the story of the car bombing of environmental activist Judi Bari who passed away on March 2, 1997.

In addition to these highlights, the San Francisco Green Film Festival will feature 40 other local premieres as well as works, talks and seminars from 50 filmmakers around the globe.

A full schedule for this year's event can be downloaded here.

In May this year (exact dates are yet to be announced) films promoting environmental awareness will also be showcased in the UK at the UK Green Film Festival, which hosts a number of awards for 'green' filmmaking.
