Trailer: 'Marley' official documentary

AFP Relaxnews | 21 February, 2012 11:34

After a world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival of the documentary 'Marley', about the legendary reggae star Bob Marley, a new trailer was released February 18.

Directed by Oscar winner Kevin Macdonald ( The Last King of Scotland, State of Play), the film chronicles Marley's life and music from Jamaica to the superstardom on the world stage and his untimely death from cancer in 1981 at age 36.

Interviews with people close to him are incorporated in the film; featured are his son Ziggy and wife Rita Marley, Jimmy Cliff, bandmates, and Chris Blackwell of Island Records, as well as the artist.

Performances of hits such as One Love, I Shot the Sheriff, No Woman, No Cry and Jammin' will be shown as Marley and the Wailers hit the world stage along with rare concert footage.

This first authorised film by the family and record label is scheduled to roll out worldwide this summer to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Jamaican Independence.

Marley will debut in the US at a South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) screening in March and opens in North America and the UK April 20 and the Netherlands and Germany in May, with more markets to follow.
