The first trailer for 'The Great Gatsby' in 3D starring Leonardo DiCaprio ('Inception') released yesterday, showing the lush new adaptation of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel by director Baz Luhrmann ('A'ustralia', 'Moulin Rouge').
Also starring are Carey Mulligan ( Drive) as the seductive Daisy Buchanan, Joel Edgerton ( Warrior) as her husband and Tobey Maguire ( Spider-Man) as the story's narrator Jay Carraway.
Set in the 1920s, with the opulent look of lavish parties, ritzy costumes and extravagance of the Roaring Twenties, the film conveys the story of a young, mysterious millionaire who falls for his neighbour's wife. Nick Carraway, a Midwesterner now living on Long Island, finds himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbour, Jay Gatsby. He is drawn into Gatsby's circle, becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy.
In a musical mash-up, recalling Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge, the soundtrack for the 2:30-minute trailer starts with Kanye West and Jay-Z's Watch the Throne and ends with a cover of U2′s Love is Blindness by Jack White, formerly of White Stripes.
