Teaser trailer: New Superman in 'Man of Steel'
The first trailer for 'Man of Steel', the latest update on the Superman story starring Henry Cavill ('Immortals'), was released this past weekend, playing at screenings of 'The Dark Knight Rises', and is now available online.
There are two versions of the trailer. They both consist of the same footage but feature two different narrations. One is by Superman's father from Krypton, Jor-El, voiced by Russell Crowe, and the other is from Kevin Costner, who plays the adopted human father to Clark Kent.
Man of Steel, the newest reboot of DC Comics' Superman, produced by Christopher Nolan and directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300), also stars Amy Adams (The Fighter), Diane Lane (Secretariat) and Michael Shannon as General Zod.
The 1:30 minutes of footage focus on Cavill as Kal-El's earthly side shows a montage of moody images on a fishing boat and hitchhiking, juxtaposed with the delicacy of nature in a butterfly and its power in a stormy sea.
As a child fashions a cape, the two fathers offer different perspectives: Crowe's Jor-El says: In time, you will help them accomplish wonders; and Costner's voiceover states: You have to decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be.
Man of Steel will be released on June 13-14, 2013, worldwide.
