'Taken 2' still leads the international box office

AFP Relaxnews | 15 October, 2012 13:13

With $63.5M, Taken 2 remains the highest-grossing film in the world this week, according to Rentrak figures.

After a record-breaking release for a French production, Liam Neeson's thriller continues to dominate the global box office. Shown in 36 countries, Taken's sequel amassed $63.5M, netting a $220M total after only two weeks on the market.

Luc Besson's production directed by Olivier Megaton is a hit in North America. Taken 2 retained its number one spot grossing $22.5M, dominating Argo starring and directed by Ben Affleck ($20.12M, in North America only).

Second place goes to Hotel Transylvania, with $31M. This family-friendly animation movie precedes Sinister, a horror number that netted $22.25M in international cinemas.
