OK Go has done it again.
This time in the middle of a desert with two miles of land and a thousand instruments.
The new music video from the Chicago foursome is one of a Chevy Sonic outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments to the song Needing/Getting.
The band sang as they played the instrument array with the car.
The video took four months of preparation and four days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins, according to the YouTube page. Lead vocalist and guitarist Damian Kulash took stunt driving lessons.
Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they'd play the right note no matter where they were struck, and random tin objects were used as cymbals.
OK Go is known for their viral videos using normal household objects as instruments and machines, stunts and dogs. Their videos are sometimes sponsored by people who share their vision.
Previous videos include White Knuckles using shelter dogs to do various tricks (after which the dogs were adopted), a domino-like machine for This Too Shall Pass and the treadmill video made famous by MTN, Here it Goes Again.
