Top 5 Lady Gaga videos
Since the announcement has been made that Lady Gaga is coming to our shores later this year, we decided to compile a list of our Gaga favourite videos.
According to the stats on Lady Gaga's You Tube account, her videos have been viewed on the site 2,204,117,709 times.
Gaga and co-star -- the gorgeous Alexander Skarsgard -- play a couple plagued by the paparazzi. She discovers he's been the one informing the paps of their whereabouts and fights with him over his betrayal. ASkars pushes Gaga off a balcony, landing her in a wheelchair, but like a bad Hollywood affair they're back together before long. Revenge, however, is on Gaga's mind and she kills her man before being arrested while the paparazzi snap away and newspapers declare her innocence.
4. 'Telephone' (featuring Beyonce)
After being imprisoned for killing her lover in the Paparazzi video, Gaga is bailed out by Beyonce, 'Honey Bee' in this video. The ladies go off to a diner where Gaga prepares poisoned sandwiches that kill everyone in the diner, including Beyonce's boyfriend. The ladies pull some sexy dance moves around the dead bodies, before fleeing in their 'Pussy Wagon'. The video is an ode to female revenge tales, Quentin Tarantino and Thelma & Louise.
Gaga pays tribute to the musical Cabaret, while alluding to Nazis, Judaism, Joan of Arc and nuns. She dances with a troop of male soldiers with pudding bowl cuts, some donning fishnet stockings. During a funeral procession Gaga carries the Sacred Heart -- a primarily Catholic devotion about Jesus Christ and his love for humanity.
2. 'Bad Romance'
Gaga is crazy. We all know this. Even though she’s not doing anything particularly new or profound, she definitely knows how to get attention and the video for Bad Romance is a prime example. Set in lustrous white, black and silver, and then red, this video is stripped-down Gaga with far less makeup and far more honesty than in most other videos. Although the dancing is very Thriller, the choreography is classy and the entire video sleek and fantastic in its theatricality. The fake polar bear fur is disconcerting, though.
Gaga's most stylised and stunning video, Judas is full of rich colours, great makeup and religious imagery. Gaga plays a modern day Mary Magdalene who is riding with the Twelve Apostles, portrayed as a biker gang. Her man, 'Jesus', wears a golden crown of thorns, while Boondock Saints actor Norman Reedus plays the traitor 'Judas'. Gaga and the biker Apostles end up at a bar, where dance moves, a brawl and a gun make their appearance before Gaga is stoned to death. There was a lot of controversy surrounding the video, of course.
