Parts of the east coast of the US were devastated by the recent storm and Rihanna, 24, has decided to hold the Rihanna & Friends party at Jay-Z's 40/40 club in New York where instead of paying to get in, people have been asked to bring supplies such as clothes, blankets and food.

She told the New York Daily News: "Now is the time for us to come together. And do whatever we can to aid those in need."

After the event, all donated items will be immediately packed into a truck and sent to the areas worst hit.

Rihanna is not the only celebrity to get involved, Kelly Osbourne wants to help The Red Cross raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Sandy by selling her designer clothes on eBay and donating the unwanted items to homeless shelters.

Kelly asked her followers on twitter: "#AdviceNeeded Im in a predicament! Should I sell my clothes on ebay & donate the money or should I send them to Shelters? #Sandy

"I think I am going to sell the stuff on ebay that I have worn & will make money to donate to #TheRedcross & donate the rest to shelters! (sic)"
