Local muso Daniel Baron will open for Bon Jovi, alongside Elvis Blue, live at FNB Stadium on May 11, 2013.

94.7 Highveld Stereo ran a poll that allowed fans to vote for which local artist/band they wanted to open for Bon Jovi. The shortlist was then sent to Bon Jovi’s management for approval who chose Baron for the Johannesburg performance.

Baron has risen to success following his debut album It’s Time.

His hit singles Paint My Blue Sky, Wrongfully Detained, Different Feeling, So Much More, See Thru and A Lion’s Heart are all playlisted on 94.7 Highveld Stereo and at least three singles are play listed across main radio stations across South Africa.

He has three charting songs on the Kia Take 40 SA and So Much More peaked at No. 2.

It’s Time was written and recorded for our local sporting heroes and was officially presented to 2012 Olympic Gold Medalists Chad Le Clos and Cameron van derBurgh. In the US he has gained the attention of various producers for film and music alike. He penned Wrongfully Detained for the worldwide documentary film Stuck. His songs have also received recognition from the highly acclaimed Patrick Magneralla (Manager of Green Day and Goo Goo Dolls).

2010, Elvis Blue won the title of Mnet Idol – sharing half the profit with runner up Lloyd Cele. In that year Blue released the album simply titled Elvis Blue.

On the album’s release in November 2010, it shot up the radio and sales charts and today enjoys platinum sales status with sales in excess of 50 000 copies, all powered by its three smash-hit singes Things My Father Said, Lighthouse and Save Me. His latest album Journey has just recently been nominated for three SAMA awards including Male Artist of the Year, Song of The Year and Album of the Year.

With one of the greatest catalogues of songs in the history of rock n’ roll, Bon Jovi has sold more than 125 million albums and racked up a stellar resume of career accomplishments. Bringing their signature brand of rock ‘n’ roll back to the people, Bon Jovi will be performing live in South Africa in May 2013.

The band’s return to the road in 2013 will cap an incredible run which has secured Bon Jovi’s status as the essential live rock band – having performed more than 2 700 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 35 million fans, and earning the #1 grossing worldwide tour twice in just three years. Because We Can – The Tour will also debut brand new songs from new album What About Now, due out in Spring 2013, loading even more ammunition into the band’s huge arsenal of hits including Livin’ on a Prayer, and You Give Love a Bad Name.
