After beating out countless contestants, local musician Storm is heading to Nashville, Tennessee in the United States to compete in the grand finale of the SuperXtar, an online international singing contest.

Once four weekly winners are announced, they are pitted against each other with only one winning a spot in the final. Now, with Storm winning this month’s monthly competition, he’ll be joining 11 other monthly winners who will battle it out in the hopes of taking the crown at the finale on 26 October.

Speaking to TMG Entertainment, Storm revealed that he’s still in shock after receiving the news last week. However, he is very much excited and looking forward to representing South Africa at the worldwide talent search.

“I got the news last week and since then everything has been happening so fast, but it’s very exciting. I can’t wait to show the rest of the world what SA has to offer.”

Having discovered his love for his singing when he was only three years old, Storm explained that his music is inspired by an eclectic mix of genres. However, he admitted to leaning more towards 80s music very often, and as a result, he’s been said to have ‘’an old soul.’’

When asked what he plans to do with $100 000 up for grabs to winner of SuperXtar, he revealed that he hasn’t given it much thought yet.

“For now, I’m just focused on winning,” Storm said.

Storm has also been working on his upcoming second single, Get Ready, which is due for release in a week’s time.
