He was admitted to a London hospital after his health deteriorated on Friday.
His partner David Furnish told the Daily Mail that the singer was doing well.
Since October 23, John has cancelled several performances during his Red Piano Tour of Britain and Ireland after he came down with the flu.
His illness results in a second postponement of a planned concert with Billy Joel in the United States.
The Face 2 Face Tour had originally been scheduled for June but postponed to November after Joel became ill with the flu.
