Khanyi believe this wedding?
The past decade ended with a great South African wedding and the new one started with another.
But tonight, it's not President Jacob Zuma's wedding we're going to be watching because Top Billing is bringing us the wedding of one of our favourite women, Khanyi Dhlomo, who got hitched on December 20.
Nigerian-American businessman Chinezi Chijioke and Dhlomo married in what was described as a glamourous, yet intimate and comfortable ceremony attended by 300 family members and friends at a venue in the Cape Winelands.
The couple met while she was studying for her MBA at Harvard in 2005 and they got engaged last February.
Clad in an understated ivory-coloured organza dress designed by Lebanese designer Elie Saab, Dhlomo looked every bit the woman of stature that she is. Chijioke was equally eye-catching in his black power suit and baby blue tie.
The proposal was traditional. He first asked Dhlomo's mother for her daughter's hand in marriage because her father is deceased.
The two are clearly besotted with each other and are determined to make their marriage work despite their high-profile careers.
A former newsreader for Metro FM, Dhlomo is widely known for her role as True Love magazine editor.
It was also this role that won her the Advantage magazine Editor of the Year award in 2001. Under her editorship True Love was voted Consumer Magazine of the Year by Advantage.
She is currently the driving force behind Ndalo Media in her dual role as managing director and founding editor of Destiny magazine.
In 2003, Dhlomo was named one of the most influential women in South African media by The Media magazine.
In 2008, she was nominated for the Vodacom Women in The Media Awards, which honours women who have made strides in the media industry.
The wedding photos were leaked on the internet.
- Watch 'Top Billing' tonight to see the matrimonial ceremony of the year at 7.30pm on SABC3
