Popular music show Live has parted ways with co-presenter Thabo "Tbo Touch" Molefe after almost two years.

Molefe, 29, known for his American accent and close association with American Music Award winner and Senegalese-American rapper Akon, will make his last appearance on the well-known SABC1 music programme this Friday.

According to sources at the public broadcaster, no reasons have been given for Molefe - also a DJ on Metro FM show House of Swag - leaving the TV programme. But they insist "he is leaving for sure".

Molefe told The Times yesterday: "I am having a meeting with SABC people today but I think this might be to discuss how we can work around this [exit from Live] . My radio show has grown and demands more of my time since it has introduced some changes."

The husky-voiced DJ who co-presents with Bonang Matheba, joined the weekly music show in May 2008 after Andile Ncube resigned.

"Live is changing a lot of things as they are going into season 10, they even have a new producer," sources close to the show said. "We haven't been informed as to who will be replacing Tbo Touch. But we have been told by most producers that he will be doing his last show this Friday.

"We hear that Siyabonga Ngwekazi might be the candidate that takes over from Tbo, but nothing has been confirmed yet," said the sources.

SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said: "I can't comment on something I don't know about."
