Dinner dash: Boston baked beans
Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Place the beans, bacon and onion in layers in a casserole dish with a lid.
- 2 x 400g cans baked beans +
- 125g streaky bacon, chopped (or a solid piece of bacon, chopped) +
- 1 large onion, sliced +
- Salt and black pepper +
- 7.5ml (1 tsp) mustard +
- 125ml ( cup) tomato sauce + 30ml (2 tbsp) Worcester sauce +
- 45ml (3 tbsp) brown sugar +
- 125ml ( cup) water
Season. In a dish, mix together the mustard, tomato sauce, Worcester sauce, brown sugar and water, stirring until smooth.
Pour this sauce over the beans, cover with a lid and bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes, removing the lid for the last 10 minutes. Serves 4-6
