The Lusito Land festival started 33 years ago as a fête in aid of the Lusito School for the Challenged and is now one of Jo'burg's most popular events. This year there will be performances by top local artists, including Crazy White Boy, Prime Circle, Jack Parow, Dr Victor and The Rasta Rebels and Kurt Darren, as well as Portuguese folk dancing, fun-fair rides and the best traditional food and beverages.

Our guest chef Fatima Coelho (see her recipes on page 6) was one of the festival's founders. Her pop-up restaurant Casa Portuguesa will serve espetada, peri-peri chicken, prawns in beer, calamari, sardines, caldo verde, bacalhau and feijoada.
