'Ke Dezember, boss' - it is time to spend wisely: iLIVE
It is that time of the year when people from all walks of life are in a festive mood.
People will be braaing, dancing, chilling on camp chairs outside until late at night, and domestic violence will be on the rise.
Muggings will also be on the rise. Beware people.
A popular radio DJ has made the phrase Ke Dezember, boss an in thing, and social networks have joined in the rave . Every Tom, Dick and Gatsheni is tweeting, Facebooking and uttering the phrase.
I feel propelled to forewarn those who are not pennywise. This is one month where people use their hearts, not minds, when spending their hard-earned cash.
Parents will be queuing at stores to buy their children Christmas clothes, and come January, money for school fees won't be found.
Children will be parading on the dusty streets of townships in their new apparel. Nothing wrong with that, but important things should take priority.
Refrigerators will be full of delicious foods, and hairdos and don'ts will be showcased.
It really boggles the mind that a few days in a month can make people lose their marbles.
Sad and sickening.
Please don't get me wrong. I'm not saying people should not have fun at this time of the year. What I am saying is they should do it wisely.
January is around the corner, and you wouldn't want to find yourself visiting loan sharks.
So, my friends and foes, before you get your bonuses (if you haven't already received them), make sure you have done your budgets - and please do spend wisely and stop repeating the mistakes of old.
Let us do away with reckless spending and impressing people we don't know.
To those who will be visiting the rural areas, make sure the pivotal stuff is taken care of. Stay safe. Don't drink and drive. Keep Alive.
