Why do drug mules do it?: iLIVE

David Lucas by email | 20 December, 2011 13:17
Nolubabalo "Babsie" Nobanda

Why do they do it? What pushes people to risk all for an amount so small. Watching the movie clip online of Babalwa Nobanda assisting the Thai Customs Officers undo the drug dreads from her head made me shed a tear, she looked so vulnerable.

Her eyes show that she has prayed and cried all her tears. The question must be asked why mostly young girls give up their future for a trip to hell! What have they planned with the money they will receive, were they going to pay for their siblings schooling or build their parents a house that we need to ask.

I don’t feel sorry for her having being caught but I am moved by her naivety, vulnerability and lack decision making guidance background. seeing a live movie of a young girl being humiliated and paraded to the world media. Made me want to ask her why?
