Update SA on Sri Lanka affairs: iLIVE

Reginald Quinten, Brixton | 16 January, 2012 00:04

South Africans, the government and the media are more likely to pronounce a Sri-Lankan cricketer's name faster than they can tell you what happened on the island in 2009.

Forty-thousand civilians were killed over a few months.

South Africa's own human rights advocate, Yasmin Sooka, was hand-picked by the UN to examine the last phase of the war. South Africa appears oblivious to this, and I'm yet to see any media interest in the high-profile inquiry involving a South African expert.
