Red flag for green paper: iLIVE

Adele, Raumarais Park | 17 January, 2012 00:36

Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande has presented a green paper which concludes that, by 2030, all will be well regarding education ("Bold plan from Blade", January 13).

Hopefully, he now has the colour right, but his plan will go the same way as a white paper and other endeavours.

Sadly, in the process, a great deal of taxpayers' money will be wasted and another generation will be written off.

What education needs is the will from the government to make it work by employing only qualified people to teach and do all the other essentials needed to make a successful school/university/FET.

What makes a school successful is the production of students qualified to earn a living in their field of choice, or in a field they are forced to embrace because they are not capable of doing what they choose.

The other essential is work ethic, and our government seems to have forgotten this.
