Coach failed the nation: iLIVE

Siphiwe Ntuli, Stone Arch Estate | 18 January, 2012 00:30

At the risk of sounding flippant, the only visible improvement in Bafana Bafana post-World Cup 2010 is none other than the bulging frame of their coach, Pitso Mosimane ("I'm still man for the job - Pitso", January 16).

Mosimane is reportedly earning a staggering R800000 a month. It is no wonder he is becoming bulkier by every pay cheque.

One may ask what he has achieved to date to deserve such an astronomical salary and, given the latest Afcon fiasco, must he still continue to do so?

I'm of the reasoned opinion that, as head of the Bafana technical team and going into such a crucial Sierra Leone encounter, he ought to have known about article 14.1 of Caf rules. The provision is manifestly peremptory and self-explicit. It does not take a legal mind to comprehend .

Bafana Bafana's failure to qualify for the Afcon is attributable to nothing but technical ineptness and borderline incompetence by Mosimane.

His blunder is inexcusable.

Mosimane has had his chance.

He has failed the nation and must therefore be removed.
