Mbeki has no shame: iLIVE

Thabo Mnisi, by e-mail | 20 January, 2012 00:129 Comments

What former president Thabo Mbeki should be talking about is his false knowledge of HIV and Aids, which caused thousands of people to die and many more to contract HIV ("False knowledge ended Gaddafi's rule, says Mbeki", January 17).

History will show him to be the worst president this country has had so far and to be an ignorant intellectual to boot.

He should hang his head in shame.

What he meant is that HIV is not a death sentence, there's nothing to be ashamed of.

Well, I have seen many death certificates, but none so far that said the cause of death is AIDS or even aids related diseases even for those people that are whispered to have died of AIDS. If the doctors are loothe to say that this person died of AIDS then on what basis are saying AIDS killed people. Tell the doctors to correct the language first and then may be you can then begin to blame people for others unfortunate circumstances. We, all are going to die some day. And death has no limit as to when, how and where.

Thabo Mnisi should be ashamed of himself. He should think a bit before repeating other people's lies and propaganda.

Thabo Mnisi you are more like the rest who when Mbeki was recalled sort of wanted popularity lambasted him with unfounded allegations. This piece of junk you wrote here does not have facts to back your statement. I do not even do not know why it was published in the first place. In future look at all the speeches regarding HIV & AIDS by pres.Mbeki and and make an informed comment. Sicelo Shiceka once said Mbeki was worse than the former Transkei KD Matanzima, look where is he now. Your friends whose bandwagon you are riding on now like Malema they have since changed their tune, because they learned one thing that ill-informed rants and propaganda without scrutiny is nothing, but detrimental to oneself. The false knowledge about this true African is exactly what he was talking about. Next time around write something with substance and not fart in the water because only bubbles will come out.

@Thandoty, say it again mtasekhaya. There is a new challenge emzantsi, i.e. the new breed of unprincipled attention seekers (such as Judge Willem Heath, Judge Nicholson, Sicelo Shiceka and others) which is growing at an alarming rate. Former President Mbeki is not only an academic, but also a philosopher and a poet. Unprinciple attention seekers mislead the public by quoting Mbeki's figurative statements without contextualising them.

The above writer has no shame. How can he write such a story about Mbeki? Please leave Mbeki alone, a man with respect and i will vote for him to be my president. We are still living with his policies ok

Thabo Mnisi is kicking the ball around (posturing) hoping he's playing soccer unfortunately he scores no goals, whilst Thabo Mbeki is playing soccer and scoring an avalanche of goals apparently with no showboating. Thabo Mnisi on the one hand is just mimicking the "pull him down" white and non-white whingers hoping his drivel is reason. Thabo Mbeki on the other hand is being reasonable in that he not only interrogates the "truth" but also invites us readers to rigirously unpack what we deem to be the truth within the context of metamorphising SA from an unjust to a just society. Yes, apartheid is dead but its impact lingers on. Unfortunately Mbeki's critics get carried away by examples he uses to advance his argument and never recover to face the main thrust of his argument which enjoins us to answer the simple but challenging question: Can the challenges of addressing the legacy of apartheid be articulated using the same apartheid narrative? For those who feel pain when they think Mbeki is asking: can verwoerd reincarnate himself into a change management spacialist?
